Lynn “Cappy” Ervin is the owner of Cappy’s Apex in Johnson City, Tennessee. Since purchasing the Apex he has been known and loved as Cappy. While others know & love him as Lynn.
On September 17, 2013 Cappy was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. Cappy and his wife, Kristie decided the Duke Cancer Institute in Durham, NC had the best team of Oncologist’s, technology & facilities for treating his cancer.

Cappy began his radiation & chemotherapy treatments at Duke Cancer Institute the week of September 30, 2013. After his diagnostic PET Scan at Duke his Oncologists discovered his cancer has spread from his esophagus to a lymph node & into his liver. Therefore, in addition to his 4 weeks of esophageal & lymph node radiation & chemotherapy Cappy must undergo additional chemotherapy for his liver which will lengthen their time at Duke.

Since Cappy has daily treatments at Duke he and Kristie are required to stay in Durham. Their temporary home away from home is at The Caring House which is a home exclusively for Duke Cancer Institute patients & caregivers.

Many friends and family members are asking how they can help. So, we decided to create this website for an easy way to donate money (big or small) to help with all the extra expenses incurred during his cancer fight.

The donations will help toward lodging at The Caring House, medical expenses, gas and food. All donations are greatly appreciated by Cappy & Kristie. They thank you so much for all the love, prayers & support during this challenging time in their lives. Cappy & Kristie send their love & heartfelt appreciation as you join them in their biggest & most important ride ever……Cappy’s Ride…..his fight against cancer.

Donating is easy. With PayPal, you can use either your PayPal account or credit card to send a payment. YOU DO NOT NEED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO DONATE.

  1. Hi Cappy,
People who haven’t been there can’t fully understand but I have been there and I understand. You are in great hands at Duke, and I think you also know that prayer is essential to your healing. You were so sweet to lend me a hand when I was struggling to live, so here is one back at you…along with many prayers.
    Love,
    Vicki Shell

    1. Yes, Cappy you are in the bestest of hands at Duke. I had good care in JC with my surgeons and oncologist radiologist, but I was blessed with my reconstruction procedure at duke. They took extra good care of me thru major surgery and even helped me with some of the other medical issues I had been having. I have surgery Monday at Duke so maybe I hope to drop by to see you and Christy for a few min. Dukes new cancer center is the state of the art . Its awesome. I pray for you and your healing.
